Sodwana Bay, a place of miracles in zululand

About Sodwana bay

If you're looking for an adventurers paradise look no further than Sodwana Bay. With countless activities in the area to choose from you'll be pressed for time to squeeze in the actives to your holiday.

If you're into diving or have it on your bucket list, then it's a no brainer to dive in Africa's Southernmost coral reef!
Sodwana Bay is a place where golden shores are caressed by the warm Indian Ocean, it hosts one of the Top 10 dive destinations in the world as well as the world’s highest naturally vegetated sand dunes.

Other water based activities include, kitesurfing, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, boat trips, spear fishing and deep sea fishing. The legendary sunsets at lake Sibaya are well worth it as well as the ocean, lake and sunset view from Ngoboseleni.

Seasonally there are whale watching boat trips that view the Northerly and Southerly migratory routes of the Humpback Whales on route to their breeding grounds, from June to October. From November to January the loggerhead and leatherback turtles lay their eggs above the high water mark in the dunes and the hatchlings hatch from February to March.

Day trips could also be made to Phinda, Umkhuze, Hluhluwe Umfolozi, Ndumo and Thembe Elephant Park for those interested in spotting Africa's big five. Their is also excellent snorkeling all the way up the coastline to Kosi Bay but one would need access to a 4 x 4 vehicle. Further inland Jozini Dam, will provide one with a lot of fun trying to catch Tiger fish all the while spotting hippo and crocodiles.

For a birds eye view of the bay and lake Sibaya there are microlight flights too! With bars, restaurants, lodges and even a spa there really is something for everyone in Sodwana Bay.

Where else in the world can you dive in the morning and see the Big 5 or have sundowners at our incredible lake systems in the afternoon? Sodwana Bay is home to the oldest fish – the coelacanth and the largest sea animal – the whale. We have the oldest land animal – the rhinoceros and even have the largest land animal in our many neighboring parks – the elephant.

This truly is a Place of Miracles!
